Iran’s UN envoy condemns Israel for killing children in regional conflicts

Iran’s UN ambassador accused Israel of deliberately killing children in Iran and Gaza, calling it a war crime.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has condemned Israel’s policy of deliberately killing children during regional conflicts, stating that the regime will be held accountable for its crimes against children.

Amir Saeid Iravani made these remarks on Thursday during an open debate at the UN Security Council focused on “Children and Armed Conflict.”

He stated that between June 13 and June 24, Israel deliberately targeted civilians in its attacks on Iran, killing over a dozen children, including infants as young as two months old.

According to Iran’s health ministry, at least 44 women and 13 children have been killed during Israel’s military aggression against Iran.

Iravani urged the UN Security Council to take immediate and effective action to protect children and hold Israel accountable.

He noted that Israel was recently re-listed on the UN blacklist of parties committing grave violations against children in armed conflict.

While acknowledging this as a necessary step, Iravani stressed that it is insufficient to stop Israel’s targeting of children.

He emphasized that the international community must act decisively to protect children and confront what he called the “child-murdering regime” in Tel Aviv.

Iravani also referenced Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza, stating that since October 2023, 50,000 Palestinian children have been killed or injured.

He cited the emergence of the term “Wounded Child, No Surviving Family” to describe the scale of devastation, where children survive while their entire families are killed.

He added that Israel has deliberately deprived hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children of food, water, and medicine, using starvation as a weapon of war.

Despite repeated US vetoes at the Security Council, Iravani urged the international community not to give up in the face of double standards and hypocrisy.
